Kingman Island

Bordered on the east by the beautiful Anacostia River, Kingman and Heritage Islands are stunning, man-made islands that provide a natural setting for events. At nearly ninety-six acres, the two central spaces that can be utilized for private events, are the dock/bridge overlooking the Anacostia, and the vast Main Meadow. As the sun sets over the meadow, your guests will stroll across the field to enjoy dancing and dining in unique and unforgettable style.

Significance within the Washington, DC Community

Kingman and Heritage Island Park is managed by Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region and operated as an educational and recreational space open to the public.  DC-area students are provided a unique opportunity to explore nature in a true “living classroom,” through a hands-on curriculum that reinforces classroom education in STEM concepts and environmental science, while also connecting them to their local environment and making them better stewards of the natural world.  Proceeds from the rental of Kingman Island directly benefit Living Classrooms’ environmental education programs serving hundreds of DC students per year.
